Moonstrate

Terms of use

These terms cover the Moonstrate app, our two websites (moonstrate.app and blanketfortlabs.app), the Blanket Fort Labs newsletter, and support payments. They are written to be read. If you have a question about any of it, write to support@moonstrate.app.

Last reviewed 2026-10-15. "We" is Blanket Fort Labs LLC, an Oregon benefit company, 5441 S Macadam Ave # 4140, Portland, OR 97239, United States.

Using the app

Moonstrate is free. Every feature is available to everyone, with nothing to unlock and nothing to pay for. You may install it on any phone you own and use it for as long as you like. If you got the app from the App Store or Google Play, that store's standard license terms also apply to the copy you downloaded.

Not medical advice

Moonstrate is a tracking and education tool for general wellness. It is not a medical device, it does not diagnose or treat anything, and nothing in it is medical advice. Its predictions are estimates from your own past entries, shown as a range, and they can be wrong. Do not rely on the app for contraception or for planning a pregnancy. The Learn section summarizes published research and grades how strong the evidence is, and it can be out of date or not apply to you. For any decision about your health, talk to a clinician who knows you. In an emergency, contact your local emergency services.

Your data is yours and only you can unlock it

Everything you enter stays on your phone, encrypted with a secret only you hold. That protection has a cost you should know before you rely on it. If you lose your PIN or passphrase and your recovery code, and have no iCloud spare key, your data cannot be recovered by anyone, including us. There is no reset link and no back door, on purpose. Keep your recovery code somewhere safe, and export a backup if your history matters to you. You are responsible for your phone, your secrets, and the copies you make.

Updates

The app updates only through the app stores. It never downloads code on its own. We may change or retire features in an update, and we will describe changes in the release notes. You can stop using the app at any time by deleting it; nothing on our side needs closing, because nothing on our side exists.

Open source

Moonstrate's source code is licensed under the GNU Affero General Public License, version 3.0. You may read it, run it, change it, and share your changes under the same license. The name Moonstrate, the moon mark, and the Blanket Fort Labs name are not covered by that license; please do not use them for a modified copy in a way that suggests it comes from us.

Supporting Blanket Fort Labs

Support is voluntary. A payment buys nothing, unlocks nothing, and creates no obligation on our side beyond our thanks. Support payments are made to a company, not a charity, so they are not tax-deductible donations. Two ways exist:

  • Inside the app, through Apple's App Store or Google Play. Their purchase and refund rules apply.
  • On our websites, through a Stripe payment link.

If you change your mind, paid by mistake, or were charged twice, write to hello@blanketfortlabs.app within 60 days and we will refund it, no questions asked. Payments must be made by an adult or with a parent's permission.

The newsletter

Signing up asks for an email address and nothing else. You can leave with one click at the bottom of any email. What we do with the address is in the privacy policy.

Our websites

You are welcome to read, link to, and quote either site. Please do not attack them, scrape them in a way that harms it, or present its content as your own. The Learn pages carry the same medical disclaimer as the app.

No warranty and limits on our liability

The app, our websites, and the newsletter are provided as they are, without any warranty, express or implied, including the implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. We work hard on it, and it is free software built by a small company; it may have bugs, and it may not suit your needs. To the fullest extent the law allows, Blanket Fort Labs LLC is not liable for any loss or damage arising from the app, the site, or the newsletter, including lost data and any decision you make based on what they show, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, which for most people is nothing. Some places do not allow these limits, and where that is the case they apply as far as the law permits. Nothing here takes away rights you have as a consumer that cannot be waived.

Disputes and governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oregon, United States. If something goes wrong, write to us first; most things can be settled in an email. Any dispute that cannot be settled that way belongs to the state or federal courts in Multnomah County, Oregon, unless the law where you live gives you the right to a court closer to home.

Changes to these terms

We will change this page when the app or the company changes, and the date at the top moves when we do. Continuing to use the app or the site after a change means you accept the new terms. A change that matters will be described in the app's release notes.
